U.S. Representative Kendrick Meek was in Northwest Florida today campaigning for the U.S. Senate seat. He made a trip to Destin this morning to have breakfast with citizens of the community and answer questions.

They met at Camille’s Restaurant at the Beachside Inn Motel off Scenic 98 at 8:15 this morning.
He said he met with local charter fisherman to hear their concerns on catch quotas and the impact on the local tourism industry.
Meek also believes the traffic on highway 98 may be a problem that needs to be addressed, and says he's also following the Beach Re-nourishment Case to be heard by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Meek believes it will be a tight race between republican candidates Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio. Both are fighting for the republican nomination to run for the U.S. Senate seat against democratic nominee Kendrick Meek.
Earlier this year, Meek publicly criticized Charlie Crist for appointing George LeMieux to the senate seat left vacant by Mel Martinez.
He thinks Floridians need a true leader and not a politician he said.
“Anyone that would appoint their campaign manager to the U.S. Senate, I think people are going to question that move. Under the 19 million Floridians-- mayors, members of congress, those that have shown an interest in public service who have some idea of what's happening in the U.S. Senate could have been appointed. But when you appoint your campaign manager that puts you into question.”
Meek was also at the Pensacola Naval Station today meeting with base commanders and having lunch with the troops.
