The powerful winter storm soaking the Southeast has caused some inconveniences in the panhandle.

Panama City and Lynn Haven Police officers were directing traffic near the airport on State Road 390 during Wednesday morning's commute.

Gulf Power crews restored power to those affected areas. Representatives tell NewsChannel 7 that a downed line in Goose Bayou caused that outage. Since Tuesday night, about 3,400 customers lost power in Panama City and Panama City Beach. By 10 a.m.Wednesday, a little over 100 are without power, Gulf Power reps said crews are working hard to restore power to every customer as soon as they can.

Meanwhile, the strong winds could have played a role in knocking down this tree on 9th street near Drake Avenue in Saint Andrew. It brought some power lines down before it came to rest in the middle of 9th Street.

Power crews are expected to be on scene for the next few hours. The damage shut down 9th street by oaks by the bay park east to Arthur Avenue.

The overnight storm also brought plenty of lightning. Lighting is to blame for a power outage by J.R's Barbeque near Star Avenue and Highway 22.

It apparently struck the power pole you see in the video, however, crews quickly restored power to the neighborhood in about 15-minutes. If you are without power, call Gulf Power at 1-800-487-6937.
