Callaway Land Owners Not Keen on Proposed Property Tax

Callaway land owners say they realize the city is having money problems, but higher property taxes are not the answer.

Hundreds of Callaway residents showed-up for a public hearing Monday night about a proposed property tax.

The extra revenue would go to pay city workers and help balance the city's budget.

The proposal is in the early stages, but most of the residents don't want any part of it.

City commissioners are divided on the tax hike. They'll hold a second reading on the proposal Tuesday night.
