Amy Cooper's Attorney Files Motion of Acquittal
One of the co-defendants in the Dr. Michael Reed cocaine conspiracy wants her verdict overturned. Earlier this month, a federal jury found Amy Cooper guilty of using a telephone to facilitate the distribution of cocaine.

Cooper, who is Dr. Reed's girlfriend, used her phone to complete a drug deal between Reed and their dealer, Hector Melara.
Tuesday, Cooper's attorney, Jim White, filed a motion asking U.S. District Judge Richard Smoak to throw out the guilty verdict and find her innocent.
In the motion, White cites a recent Supreme Court opinion that a drug buyer cannot aid in the distribution of cocaine. He admits Cooper may be guilty of misdemeanor possession cocaine, or felony possession with intent to distribute; but, Cooper was not charged with either crime.
White contends the only felony drug crime federal prosecutors established was cocaine distribution by Melara.

Anyone want to take bets that she gets off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist, if that? Lives and careers ruined and she wants an aquittal? This woman should be slapped behind bars for at least the length of time Reed got and more. What a shameful waste.
