Area Car Dealer Faces Tax Charges by the State

Forty-seven-year-old Mark Gerke is accused of failing to pay state sales taxes totaling more than $80,000.

Florida Department of Revenue investigators say Gerke is alleged to have collected sales taxes at his businesses in Tallahassee and Panama City back in 2000 and 2001, but didn't file sales tax returns for several months during that period.

Gerke reportedly turned himself in to state authorities Thursday in Tallahassee, as part of a plea agreement in which he will pay the back taxes the state.
