While many people visit a memorial or church to honor those who fight to keep our country free, a local Indian tribe uses song and dance to show their respects.
The North Bay Clan is holding a memorial weekend pow-wow with authentic tribal dances and Indian stories. The tribe is using the gathering to teach the local community about their Native American descendants.
Tribe leaders say it's also a great way to recognize the country's warriors.
"Among the native tribe the warriors were the greatest. We provided the food and protection for the family, and when need be we'd go to war, so warriors are always held in high respect. Today we still recognize warriors, or the soldiers and veterans," says tribal leader Alan 'Wandering Eagle' Wilson.
The singing and dancing will continue until seven Saturday night, and then again from 10 until seven Sunday and Monday.
