St. Andrews' Businesses Hit Road Block

Road construction delays in St. Andrews means a huge loss in revenue for businesses there.

The Johnson Bayou bridge project is four months behind schedule. The Days Inn hotel has lost all of its drive-by clientele because of the construction.

"We lost two people this morning because of the noise. Because of the rattling, shaking, and earth moving," says Days Inn Assistant Manager, Louise Ham.

Roadwork along Beck Avenue in downtown St. Andrews is also causing headaches for business owners there. Some say they've seen a 50 percent decrease in business since the roadwork began about a couple months ago.

"It's tearing up the sidewalks. No one wants to walk on that. In the long-run it will be nice, but I wish it could happen a little faster," says John Beckmann of Tessie's Pacific Boutique.
