Cedar Grove police say 32-year-old Chelsea Darrel Estes held his ex-girlfriend and her mother hostage for about two hours before shooting himself in the chest.
The situation started at a mobile home off 25th Street in Cedar Grove about 11:30 Thursday night.
Investigators say initially, there were three hostages but Estes let one go almost immediately.
Lt. Daniel of the Cedar Grove Police Department says Estes eventually released the mother and barricaded himself with his ex-girlfriend in the back of the trailer. Then he turned the 22-caliber handgun on himself.
He’s listed in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery.
