Panama City Beach Bed Tax Collections Up

By  |

Local business owners are eagerly anticipating the tourism boost Southwest Airlines will provide.

But most are pretty thankful for what they've had this past year.

While bed tax collections were down across the panhandle about 3.3 % for the 2009 fiscal year, Panama City Beach's numbers were actually up 2.7% percent.

TDC officials attributed the increase to a strong summer travel season and featured events throughout the year that drew thousands of extra tourists to the beach.
