Pep Rally

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and brother to the President started things off with an introduction of Vice President Dick Cheney.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce to you, the vice president of the United States and his lovely wife, Lynn Cheney."

Beyond all the pomp and praise, Vice President Dick Cheney used his time reminding the supporters what the White House is doing for them and why supporting other republican candidates is so important. One example: the tax cut.

"It would not have passed, except for the fact if we were able to put together 50 votes and then I had the tie-breaking vote to put it through, but if we had one less senator, we would not have been able to enact that measure."

Cheney touched on issues home and abroad, but not without an occasional laugh to get the crowd going.

"When they had the constitutional convention, they created the post of the Vice President. When they got down to the end of the convention and remembered they hadn't given him anything to do." Laughs aside, Cheney also spoke about the threat of terrorism and the importance of the U.S. presence in Iraq.

"The stakes in Iraq are history and the terrorists understand that as well as we do. Iraq will either be a peaceful free country or it will again be a source of violence."

At the beginning and end of his speech he reminded the crowd that the 2000 presidential election was won by only 537 votes in this state, obviously pointing out the importance of all of their votes come November.
