The county staff is recommending a salary range increase of about eight percent. It's been almost five years since the county implemented a salary increase.

Deputy county manager Joy Bates says there is a 40 to 45 percent turnover rate for the minimum paid jobs. Bates says the county needs to offer more competitive salaries in order to retain and attract qualified workers.

The commissioners are expected to examine the salary hike at next month's meeting.
