A beach day care operator is facing questions after two toddlers wandered away from the center Monday afternoon. The kids are okay, but now local and state investigators are looking into the case.

Two toddlers are back at the Kid's Best day care center on Thomas Drive after giving their adult supervisor a big scare Monday.

A worker at a real estate office next door found the two children playing in the rain in a parking lot. Smith says she's glad her two-year-old son didn't get hurt and she's not blaming the day care center, but Smith says she'd like to see some changes to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Kid's Best director Marie Shierling says an incident like this has never happened before, but one of her own workers disputes the claim, saying the same teacher from Monday's incident has ignored kids before. The employee chose to remain anonymous for fear of her job.

Kid's Best owner Jeff Jones denies any previous incidents. Kid's Best director Marie Shierling says an incident like this has never happened before, but one of her own workers disputes the claim, saying the same teacher from Monday's incident has ignored kids before.

The employee chose to remain anonymous for fear of her job. The Sheriff's Department has not filed any criminal charges in this case.
