Recently USA Today ranked the beaches of south Walton as one of the top beach vacation spots for families for the second year in a row.
Family travel expert Candyce Stapen compiled the list for the national newspaper. She says south Walton's nature trails and upscale beach communities like water colors provide fun for all ages.
Walton County Tourist Development Council officials say they've known this all along.
Kriss Titus, Executive director of the Walton County Tourist Development Council says,
"The secret's out but the one thing about the beaches of south Walton that keeps it special, it's specialness, we are ecologically sound and that were not overrun by too many tourists and that we have lots and lots of activities along this 26 miles of beaches.
Other beaches that made the list include Hilton head island in South Carolina and Nantucket, Massachusetts.
