Florida Highway Patrol troopers say 69-year-old Ernestine Grinstead of Panama City Beach was walking along Treasure Palm Drive Friday afternoon around 4:30 when she was hit by an SUV. She died Saturday night as a result of her injuries.

Family members say she had been out walking the neighborhood for exercise like she did every afternoon. Troopers say 27-year-old James A. Wilson of Panama City Beach drove onto the shoulder of the road and hit Grinstead.

The victim was known as "Little Miss Fireball" to many in Bay County because she had such an energetic and fun personality. She volunteered for numerous organizations. Grinstead is survived by a son, daughter and five grandchildren.

Local services are still being planned, but she will be buried in Paducah, Kentucky. Charges are pending against James A. Wilson.
