It happened late Tuesday morning at the Pana-Villa apartments off 17th Street. Authorities say the fire started about 11:30 in an air conditioning unit in a first floor apartment.
Smoke and flames filled the apartment, then drifted upstairs. A woman and her two kids decided to jump out of the window of their second floor home.
She suffered minor injuries when she landed. The kids are okay. No one else was injured. The first floor apartment was gutted by the fire.
