Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Gay was headed north on the two-lane highway when he ran off the road and went into a ditch where he crashed into a culvert.
The car then became airborne and ejected the driver as it was spinning.
Gay was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was the only person in the pick up truck at the time.
