The port of Panama City along with most ports in Florida are ready for July 1 security deadline. The U.S. Coast Guard set the deadline requiring all ports, facilities and ships in the country to step up its security.
All must receive approval by the Coast Guard to remain open after the July 1 deadline. According to the Coast Guard in Panama City, the state of Florida started to increase security in its ports two years ago.
While Mississippi and Alabama could face some closures, Florida ports are ready to meet the deadline.
