Thursday, the passing of a flag and handshakes marked the end of Lt. Gen. Paul Hester's command at Hurlburt Field.
He will move on to Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii where he will head up the Pacific Air Forces.
Lt. Gen. Michael Wooley takes over at Hurlburt. He comes from Mildenhall Air Force Base in England where he commanded the 3rd Air Force.
He returns to the Air Force Special Operations Command after serving as vice commander from 1997 to 1998.
