Starting next week, the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco will beef up its presence in Panama City Beach to combat underage drinking.
About 20 agents from across the state will arrive March 10 for a three-week enforcement campaign. They'll check ID's at local bars and patrol the streets.
Last year, there were about 1,200 enforcement actions during a two-week period of spring break. Most of those dealt with underage possession of alcohol.
Agents say they're gearing up for a big Spring Break season.
"Some will be working at night, some will be during the day, some will be in plain clothes, some will be in uniform. So we just want them to know that we're going to be out there. We will respect them, we just ask them to respect us," said Lt. Tony Cornman with the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.
Cornman says more Florida Highway Patrol troopers will be in the area to help with traffic problems during Spring Break.
