PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL-----The Covenant Hospice Mask Parade Gala took a step back in time Saturday night with a Renaissance theme. However, they took a step forward in the fund-raising department with well over $75,000.

The 8th annual gala, held at the Marriot Bay Point Resort, collected over 90 masks this year from local artists, business owners and even celebrities.

As always Bobby Bowden had a mask and organizers say his mask was one of the more popular during the live auction. There was even an all out bidding war for it. It ended up selling for $2,000.

New to the mask scene this year is one from Creative Gems. The local jewelry business designed a mask which is worth thousands of dollars.

For many of the artists they created beyond the mask and made it part of a bigger painting.

WJHG's Paris Janos was the emcee and with Paris running the show it was an evening full of laughter for the guests.

100% of the money raised from both the silent and live auctions is going to help ill patients in Hospice regardless of their ability to pay.

"This signature event pays for our uninsured and indigent patient care. So those who have no other source for their end of life care this pays for that. We also pay for grief counseling for those who aren't able to pay in the community," says Nanisa Anderson one of the organizers.

The most popular mask during the live auction was a large painting done by artist Patrick Reynolds. It sold for $7,500.
