Another local church group is on its way to Haiti to help with earthquake relief efforts.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Callaway is sending a mercy medical team of doctors and nurses to Port Au Prince.

The group left this morning to meet other teams from Lutheran churches around the U.S. They're carrying medical supplies and antibiotics. For the next 11-days they'll be working out of two-medical stations in Port Au Prince.

Church officials are hoping to treat those who are sick and injured, both physically and spiritually.

"Basically we will be setting up an outpatient clinic and seeing patients. We're bringing all of our on medicines. Seeing a lot of the pneumonia's, skin infections, probably some malaria, probably intestinal parasites. Just a lot of the things you would typically see in an under privileged countries," Bonnie Nell, a local doctor said.

"But the Lord brings soloists through various means. When they know they see somebody that's bringing forth the word of Christ. Being able to represent him in their presence, they find strength to be able to make it through another day, healing," Randal Ehrichs, the church's pastor said.

The group is on its way to Miami right now to catch a flight to Haiti
