Faith-Based, Free Clinic Opens in St. Andrews

Thirty thousand people are living without health insurance in Bay County. Now, a new faith-based free clinic will provide those in need with preventative medical care.

St. Andrews Baptist Church and members of the medical community celebrated the official opening of St. Andrew Community Medical Center off of Cincinnati Avenue in St. Andrews.

Area doctors and nurses are volunteering their time to care for those who are at 150 percent of the federal poverty level and have no insurance, and these docs even provide free dental care.

"In addition to the medical need we do have a need for dental care. We have no dental provider for people with Medicaid. For children we do, but not for adults," says Carole Summey, Clinic Coordinator.

The clinic is open every Monday with free screenings from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the afternoon.
