Lynn Haven- The Boy Scouts of America are celebrating 100 years of scouting by hosting special events across the country. Some local scouts are making sure that next month, Northwest Florida's "Scout Jam 2010" totally rocks.

Travis Tritt would be proud. Some local scouts wrote their own lyrics to his hit and titled it "It's a Great Day to be a Scout." They say that is true everyday. "It teaches you alot of things, leadership, common sense. It's pretty fun, you meet a whole bunch of new people," said Bryce Segler, a Life Scout. That's why they are recording thier song for the 100 year anniversary of scouting. "I think it's amazing. I never thought when I was crossing over, even in my Eagle Scout code of honor that I'd be any part of the hundredth year. I thought I would just be going to jamboree and having a good time, but apparently i'm on a CD," said Daniel Macaluso, an Eagle Scout.

The CD will be played during next month's "Scout Jam 2010" in Fort Walton Beach. "We hope to have 2 or 3 thousand people there. This song will be featured in the evening show," explained Randy Segler, who is an Eagle Scout.

None of it would have been possible without the help of two former scouts. "We really appreciate Billy (Rader) coming out and recording the song and Tom (Hoots) providing us his studio to make it happen. It's amazing all the people who stepped up to help out scouting and we really appreciate it," said Segler.

The group contacted Travis Tritt's agent to ask permission to use the tune, he gladly agreed. The song was recorded at Studio 812 in Lynn Haven.
