31 people, including some spring breakers were arrested Friday night. But they were taken into custody in what some are calling a "non-traditional way".
Instead of being arrested and immediately carted off to the Bay County jail, the 31 suspects were initially booked into a mobile jail instead.
Of course they all ended up at the main jail in Bayou George by the end of the night, but their first stop was this moving booking center.
Of the 31 people booked through the mobile jail last night two were women and the rest men. The majority of these arrests were for disorderly conduct charges.
Officials tell us booking one person at the jail usually takes a few hours. This process is a lot faster.
"The first weekend was very productive. That was kind of a warm up for us basically. We know this weekend was going to be the busiest. Last weekend we booked in about 34 or 36 people. This weekend, we expect to probably do that in one night," Rick Anglin, Warden of the Bay County jail said.
Anglin says they plan to have the mobile jail out again Saturday and Sunday nights and through the rest of the busy points of the spring break season.
