Panama City and Springfield police are trying to determine if this is a case of domestic violence, or an unfortunate health problem.

According to her parents, 29-year-old Willia Golden is brain-dead.

Springfield officials say her initial injuries happened Thursday at 1003 Detroit Avenue, Apartment D. Her parents allegedly took her to their home on Wilson Avenue in Panama City on Friday.

Authorities say they thought she was dead when she was taken to Bay Medical Center Saturday, unconscious. Her parents first claimed Golden had health issues, and said she suffered a heart attack due to blood sugar complications.

Monday, her father says she was in an abusive relationship. He told us she had visible injuries around her wrists and neck.

Investigators say they are still trying to piece together what happened between Thursday and Saturday.

"There's been at least conversations that there may have been domestic violence, said Springfield police chief Phillip Thorne. "Was she a victim, was she just a participant, we don't know. She certainly has some medical issues, but were there any other outside factors that contributed to the medical issues."

Thorne says drug use could also be a factor in the incident. If you have any information about this case, call the Springfield Police Department at (850) 872-7570.
