Road Project is Delayed Several Months to Ease Severe Traffic Back Up

Normally, people like to see street projects in their neighborhood, but not this time, and the Bay County Road Department hears your pain.

The county had been planning to start road repair construction work on Laird Street near Laurie Ave this week.

However, because of the massive traffic jams being caused by the Thomas Drive flyover project, Laurie and Laird had been becoming "unofficial detours" by many locals needing to get to work and other appointments without the hours long delays associated with work on Front Beach and Back Beach Roads.

Wednesday, The County Road Department said it would put the project on the shelf for the remaining summer months.

The new target date to start the work is now after Labor Day, September 6.
