It’s your chance to pick up shoes, clothing and school supplies without having to pay the state sales tax.

Rick McAllister at the Florida Retail Federation says they're forecasting a seven percent increase in sales compared to the same time last year.

"The consumers, the retailers, everyone was expecting an increase in spending by consumers anyway, and this is just going to help.”

McAllister went on to say, “Remember this is tax relief. So this is about putting more money in the consumer's pockets so that they can either afford the things that they've got to buy for their children or they can afford to buy more."

The eight day sales tax holiday begins Saturday and lasts until August 1.

The tax break applies to any shoes and clothing that cost less than $50 and any school supplies that cost $10 or less.
