Jackson County State Worker Terminated for Abuse

A house parent at Dozier School for Boys in Marianna is among four Florida Department of Juvenile Justice employes who have been fired.

Royce Burgess was one of the four charged with allegedly abusing or neglecting juveniles.

Burgess had worked at Dozier for about a year. It is home to about 130 troubled youth.

The state says Burgess was fired for allegedly using improper head lock restraints on a boy and then failing to record it in a log book.
