Some Panama City Beach Pharmacies Run Out of "Plan B" pill
Health officials and the media spend a lot of time talking about spring break behaviors like binge drinking, drug use and risky sexual activity. Police can do a lot to stop the first two. But it appears there will be a lot of the third behavior occurring in Panama City Beach this Spring.

It's no secret, spring break causes many college students to lose most or all of their inhibitions. Panama City Beach pharmacy shelves show it.

Thursday morning, we learned this CVS Pharmacy on the corner of Alf Coleman Road and 98 was sold out of "Plan B" the so called morning after emergency contraception pills.

And this CVS near the west end of the beach was running very low on the pills.

"It's like tooth brush, tooth paste, gotta get the alcohol and oh yeah pick up the morning after pill," Bryan Russell, of the Bay County Health Department said.

"I'm not really surprised with it. A lot of people unfortunately rely on that type of contraception, a female spring breaker said.

While some students come to the beach for some relaxation, others are looking for a little more. Here's some facts about spring break sex.

According to book of odds.com, 72% of males and 69% of females either always, or almost always drink alcohol before engaging in sex.

As far as random hookups, 1 in 4 college males do it with someone new, as compared to 1 in 20 college females.

Spring break sex even has its own theme song. One of the hottest songs on I-tunes right now is "The Spring Break Anthem 2010" by the group Right Side of the Tree. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the point.

"We're hooking up with every girl we can cause its spring break," the song says.

Local health experts say there are always dangers associated with this risky behavior.

"Our big message is abstinence and prevention, so you don't have to worry about it," Russell added.

Health experts tell us use some common sense, if you do plan on having sex, just make sure its safe.

Here are more facts that you may not know. Health experts tell us 67% of unplanned pregnancies happen when alcohol is present. 90% of sexual assaults occur while intoxicated. And one in four people has a sexually transmitted disease and doesn't know it.

By Thursday afternoon, most beach pharmacies were restocked with the morning after pills, but expect those to go fast.

Great. At least they are being responsible about it. Their decision to make, not mine. Also glad my future tax dollars won't be paying for a child conceived during a drunken spring break. I'm pleased.

I disagree with the whole "its a form of abortion" the baby hasn't even begin growing within the 72hrs required to take the pill! Its a wonderful way to try and keep kids and young adults from having kids they can't take care of.
