A 29-year-old woman on vacation with her family was struck by lightning about 10 a.m. Monday morning.

Kimberly DeBoeuf was staying at the Blue Dolphin Inn on the west end of Panama City Beach. She was about knee deep in the water when she noticed the skies started to darken.

As DeBoeuf was leaving the water, lightning stuck her in her ankles. She temporarily lost consciousness. A vacationing paramedic attended to her until emergency crews could get there.

She was treated and released from a local hospital.
