Okaloosa Wants Payment After 20 Years of Unbilled Water Service

Now, Okaloosa County officials at Ft. Walton Beach in the Florida Panhandle want him to pay up.

The two-decade mistake may have totaled more than $10,000 based on average residential usage, but there's a four-year statute of limitations on overdue water and sewer bills.

Goodwin's attorney says his client is willing to pay for part of the error but not all of it.

Goodwin's attorney says Goodwin told county employees several times over the years that he wasn't being billed, but they took no action until he recently notified them again.
