Manslaughter Suspect is Now a Free Man

Richard Hogarth pleaded guilty for the second time to manslaughter in the 1999 death of Thomas Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick died three days after being severely beaten in his own home in July of 1999.

Hogarth pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the first time in 2000. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A federal judge overturned Hogarth's original plea and ordered a new trial after three other defendants in the case got off with much lighter sentences.

Hogarth was re-sentenced to time served Monday and is now a free man.
