Friday was Tim McGarry's birthday, but the 42-year-old former Thomas Drive Fire Chief probably isn't celebrating.
Acting Circuit Judge Paul Hawkes sentenced McGarry Friday morning to 40 years in prison for having sex with an underage girl.
The victim was 12 years old when the crimes took place two years ago. McGarry manipulated the young girl into having sex with him at least three times over several months.
Local jurors convicted McGarry in June on three counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a minor. They deliberated about 20 minutes.
Judge Hawkes Friday imposed consecutive sentences of 15, 15, and 10 years in prison. Under Florida law he must serve 85 percent of the 40 year total sentence.
McGarry still faces trial for allegedly doing the same thing to another young girl.
