Panama City police say a man in his 20's walked into the Bay County Sheriff's Office Saturday morning and said he may have killed someone. He's now in custody charged with murder.

Police say 21-year-old Kinzell Lamar McCoy told investigators he had gotten into a fight with a man and hit and strangled him. Investigators say McCoy told them he didn't know if he left the man dead or alive.

Around 10:30 Saturday friends and family began gathering at the home of 50-year-old David Bowick. All morning they waited, wondering if the body laying near a fence in the backyard was that of their beloved brother and uncle.

Then, investigators showed Bowick's sister a picture taken at the crime scene and she confirmed the worst, it was David Bowick.

The 50-year-old man lived at 716 E 12th Street. Bowick's mother built the house years ago. Friends say he was an eccentric man, but a loving brother and uncle.

McCoy is being held in the Bay County Jail on an open count of murder. Investigators say the fight started around 9 p.m. Friday night.
