After plucking three missing Georgia boaters safely from the Gulf of Mexico, the Coast Guard has suspended the search for a fourth man who is presumed dead.
The three men who were rescued Monday told the Coast Guard that the fourth man, John Fish of Monticello, Georgia apparently died before they lost sight of him prior to the rescue.
The search was suspended late Monday night.
Jake Fish, who is John Fish's father, Keith Smith and Michael Jackson, all of Monticello, were found 21 miles west of Steinhatchee.
The men, who were wearing life jackets, were weak and dehydrated. They were flown to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
The group had left Steinhatchee on a fishing trip on a 17-foot pleasure craft Saturday. They were reported overdue Sunday evening. Their boat was not found.
