A different type of class is being taught at Gulf Coast Community College this week.
The federal Drug Enforcement Administration is in town to teach Panhandle law enforcement agencies about dismantling and decontaminating methamphetamine labs by OSHA standards.
The week-long course also instructs officers on how to decontaminate personnel at the meth lab scene through air monitoring and respiratory protection.
Local police agencies already have people trained, but due to the recent rise in the number of meth busts, more and more trained people are needed.
Tim Binkley, DEA Special Agent, says training is the key to safety.
"Several guys, just by the virtue of the number of labs that are being seized in this area are familiar with methamphetamine labs. However, to do them safely and properly, OSHA requirements have to be met."
The course lasts for 32 hours and is teaching police officers from Jacksonville to Pensacola.
