Commissioners voted 3-2 in favor of a non-binding ballot asking voters whether they would like to pursue consolidation of local government.
Commissioner John Newberry made the motion a couple weeks ago and it did not pass. With so many arguments for and against annexation, Newberry says one county government would solve a lot of problems.
He brought the issue up again Tuesday, and Commissioner Jerry Girvin and Mike Ropa voted in favor of the straw ballot.
