Panama City is sending workers from Leisure and Road Services to southwest Florida to help in the relief effort there.

The city workers will be helping the small town of Frost Proof, which was 40 percent damaged by Charley. Six leisure service workers leave Wednesday to help clean up and repair parks in that city.

Twelve road service workers will leave Thursday repair the city's streets.

"We're going to represent the city of Panama City well. We're sitting here on the coast, and who knows we may need the help next time, so we're going to extend a helping hand," says Cheryl McIntyre, Leisure Services Director.

McIntyre says the city's Fire Department may also be called up to help in the relief effort.
