Early voting in Holmes County has been putting the focus on whether there is a need or not for a tourist development tax.
Beverly Helmes from the Tourist Developmental Committee in Bonifay says the estimate is the tax could generate a couple of dollars a night from each motel room that's rented in the county.
People staying in RV parks for less than six months would also have to pay the two percent tax.
Any money raised by the tax goes to Tallahassee to be put in a Tourist Development fund. The money then comes back to Holmes County to be used to support special events that are approved in the Tourist Development plan.
The issue is on the August 31 primary election ballot in Holmes County. Early voting started this week and will continue until the day before the election.
