About 20 sailors from the USS Momsen spent their first day on land painting, shoveling, mowing and hammering. Home Depot and the USS Momsen crew teamed up to give the children's home a new look.

They built a new deck so the children would have a place for picnics. They also painted the home and did some much needed yard work.

"We do a lot of volunteer work. At port in San Diego we helped the elderly, and we're helping kids here. I think it's a good thing and the sailors enjoy it," says Petty Officer Richard Huerta.

"We've been working on this project for the past six months. But this is their first day of liberty, so we're very appreciative, and the sailors seem to enjoy it," says Barbara Cloud, Director of the Anchorage Children's Home.
