The First Judicial Circuit Medical Examiner is investigating the apparent drowning death of a 65-year-old man in the Gulf At Santa Rosa Beach in south Walton today.
South Walton Fire District received the 911 call shortly after 1 PM Monday afternoon. When paramedics arrived bystanders had pulled the man from the water onto the beach and were performing CPR.
S-W-F-D paramedics took over the resuscitation efforts while rushing the man to Sacred Heart Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Single Red beach warning flags were flying at the time.
The victims name is not being released until relatives are notified.
It’s the second area Gulf drowning in just four days. Last Thursday an Remlap, Alabama vacationer drowned in the Gulf in the Phillips Inlet Area in what was described then as very rough surf and undertow.

To Susan and the others who helped my uncle and his family, from the deepest part of my heart, thank you for your help, support and prayers for my uncle and his family. We thank you and those who pulled him from the water and are grateful for your help.
Our sincere sympathy goes out to the family of the drowning victim at Hidden Dunes on June 28th. We would like for you to know that everyone on the beach tried to do everything possible to save the life of your loved one. We are extremely sorry. The guys that went into the ocean were heroic in their actions. Medical personnel were among the visitors on the beach and rushed in immediately to help. Strangers and family held hands and were praying. We will continue to pray for you and your family. May God be with you and give you strength. Susan-Alabama
