Bay County lawmen are still searching for a home invasion robbery suspect.
Deputies say the case began at mid-afternoon when the suspect forced a woman into her home on Orlando Road in Hiland Park, robbed her of about $100 in cash and her credit card. He then took off in her car, which was parked in the driveway.
It wasn’t too much later when deputies spotted the car and a high-speed chase began along State Road 388 east of Highway 77. Speeds were clocked at 100 miles per hour.
The suspect, later identified as Wallace Brimer of Georgia, abandoned the car after deputies put out a chain of spikes and caused several tires on the car to go flat. Brimer then headed into a heavily wooded and swampy area. He eluded helicopters, tracking dogs and other police.
At one point a tracking dog and deputy located the suspect but he managed to slip out of his shirt and away from the officers.
Brimer is wanted for theft of cars and guns in Georgia.
