Fire Destroys a Wewahitchka Home

A Wewahitchka family escaped injury but lost their home and their children's Christmas presents in a major fire this week.

The home at 355 North Dianna Street in Wewahitchka caught fire in the kitchen area during the dinner hour. Everyone got out safely and there were no injuries.

But, Brandi Martin, a First Responder-Paramedic in Gulf and Bay counties says her family lost everything except the clothes they were wearing.

Residents have started a drive to help the family which lost all of its belongings. Anyone who would like to help the family can make a contribution to a fund which has been established at the Emerald Coast Credit Union in Gulf County. The account is in the name of Brandi Martin.

Those wishing to do so can may mail their donation to Emerald Coast Credit Union at 101 East River Road in Wewahitchka, Fl 32409
