The Federal Aviation Administration is in Georgia today, investigating a small plane crash involving a Franklin County couple.
The crash happened Monday near Thomaston, Georgia, which is about 40-miles west of Macon.
Upson County, Georgia sheriff's officials say the 59-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman passenger left Dog Island at Apalachicola Monday morning, heading to Seven Lakes Airport in Jackson, Georgia in a 1941 Aeronica Chief.
The single engine 2-seater apparently ran out of fuel and went down in a wooded area.
The couple got out of the aircraft and used their cell phone to call for help.
Paramedics took the man to the hospital to treat minor injuries. The woman did not suffer any injuries.
But the plane suffered extensive damage.
Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore said the pair was very fortunate.Authorities have not released their names.
