Arrest Made in Home Depot Bomb Threat

The Panama City Beach police department has arrested a man for falsely reporting a bomb report.

John Shannon Byrd has been charged of false report of a bomb.

Wednesday morning, Byrd entered The Home Depot store on Back Beach Road. While checking out, Byrd told the cashier there was a bomb inside the building and that it was about to explode.

After making these types of statements, Byrd left in his vehicle.

The store was then evacuated and school officials put nearby Breakfast Point Academy on lockdown as a precaution.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office assisted by deploying their explosive detection K-9 to conduct a search of the store.

No explosives were found.

Through the course of the investigation, Byrd was located and arrested.

Byrd was transported to the Bay County Jail where he awaits first appearance.
