PANAMA CITY-- A Parker man is in the Bay County jail, accused of trying to rob a downtown Panama City credit union branch Thursday afternoon.
Panama City police arrested 39 year old William Earl Riley Thursday in Parker.
They say he's the man who tried to rob the Innovation Federal Credit Union branch in the 600 block of Jenks avenue.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say a white man walked into the branch, passed a robbery note to the tellers and indicated that he had a weapon. But they say he left without getting any money.
Some snapped a cell phone picture of the suspect leaving the branch. And police say they found some clothing left behind the branch building.
Apparently those two clues help identify Riley as the suspect.
Riley is charged with attempted robbery. He's due in court Friday for a bond hearing. Detectives say the case is still under investigation and there could be more charges.
