WEST BAY, Fla Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a house fire that sparked in West Bay this afternoon. They responded to a call around 1 p.m.

Bay County firefighters arrived to the scene of a home fire on near Hickory and Lazy Acre Road this afternoon.

Luckily, the home was vacant and no one was inside at the time. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the fire under control,

One neighbor said that their relatives used to occupy the home but no one was currently living there now.

Firefighters say due to higher winds in the wintertime fires may be more difficult to put out....the Battalion chief says they did not have that issue today.

Battalion Chief Bay Co. FD Darrel Wise said, "The humidity is very low the ground coverage is very dry, often times in the winter time we do have you know, higher winds. For this instance it did well we didn’t have that issue."

Investigators say they don't know that cause of the fire.
