PANAMA CITY - Bay County officials are bringing on board a new director for the county's animal control operations. The county received more than 60 applications for the position.
Officials decided to hire Paula Hunter from Brevard County who will replace former Bay County Animal Control Director Carol Treftz. She's currently the animal shelter supervisor there.
Treftz resigned in December after officials found some discrepancies on her resume.
"We've certainly had some challenges in the past, however, we've been making big strides to improve animal control over the last year and we certainly expect and hope Ms. Hunter will help continue those positive changes," said Valerie Sale, Public Information Officer for Bay County.
Paula Hunter's first day on the job will be March 24th. Hunter will be the 4th animal control director in nearly 3 years.
