YOUNGSTOWN - Despite signs on the bridge that point to shallow waters and prohibit jumping and diving, 47 year old James Todd Clark jumped into the Econfina Creek off the bridge on Highway 388 around 4 P.M.
Unconfirmed reports suggest he jumped in after his two dogs. He didn't resurface.
Minutes later, his girlfriend, Rhonda Kilpatrick, called the Bay County Sheriff's Office, who arrived on scene shortly after.
They were joined by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Deputies say the man was unconscious when he finally resurfaced. After recovering the body, he was declared deceased by the Medical Examiner's Office
The cause of death is still unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
