Bay District School Officials Planning to Upgrade Two School Facilities

PANAMA CITY- The district's facility is preparing to renovate the girls' locker room at Jinks Middle School.

The plans call for new lockers, showers, toilets and sinks.

Workers will also install new lighting in the coaches’ offices.

And Bay High School students will be getting a new locker area.

The old locker hall in the center of the campus has been around for more than 50 years.

It's the oldest part of the campus.

The plans call for a more open facility.

"They have an arch aluminum ceiling inside and we're going to have LED lighting. It's going to be open, you can see through and even down Harrison you will be able to look through this colonnade and see the courtyard behind and it's going to be cool,” said John Bozarth, director of facilities.

The locker hall was originally a courtyard and was never meant to be sealed up.

Over the year, condensation has ruined the flooring.

The money for other projects is coming from the half-cent sales tax.
